Jacqueline BAKAMURERA

Ms. Jacqueline Bakamurera is a Partner with Kigali Allied Advocates. Before joining the Bar, she was the Assistant Attorney General in the Ministry of Justice in Charge of Community Programs Human Rights and Legal Aid Services which she headed since October 2007.

Prior to that, she was the President of the Intermediate Court of Rubavu in the Western Province a position she held since 2004. Before being posted in Rubavu she had served in the same capacity in the Province of the East from 2001. During that time, she was a Judge, she was instrumental in adjudicating certain genocide cases and also giving advice on Human Rights issues and on the amendment of certain laws notably the Rwandan Penal Code, Family Code and other laws.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the National University of Rwanda, Butare and a Diploma in Legal Practice from ILPD. Jacqueline is a native speaker of Kinyarwanda, has excellent command of English and a working knowledge of French.
